Ingrid is a qualified Counsellor, and is offering creative and holistic counselling sessions in Camberwell, commencing August 2018. Ingrid holds a Bachelor of International Development, Post-Graduate Diploma of Counselling and is registered with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).
She is a firm believer in the connection between body and mind, and weaves body awareness, through felt sense and simple embodiment practices into her client sessions. Ingrid’s personal love of art making and the creative process has led her to discover the magic of art therapy. Where appropriate and welcomed, Ingrid uses creative methods to assist clients to connect more deeply with their inner worlds.
Ingrid’s practice is informed by a person-centred approach, where the client is empowered to make their own discoveries and realise their own innate knowing. Ingrid is trauma informed, and through her own experience of traumatic loss, has developed a deeper capacity to hold space for those in need. She utilises evidence based therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and Creative Therapies.
Through many years of self-development work, both in one on one therapy and in groups, Ingrid has overcome many road blocks in the path to vibrant living. She is passionate about her own continuous evolution and growth as a person, and has a fervent interest in working with others to uncover their own unique pathways.
Ingrid has years of experience in supporting people with disabilities. She currently works as a Therapeutic Youth Worker and is a volunteer at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.
When Ingrid is not at work or volunteering, she can be found in the library, on the dance floor, at a yoga class or somewhere immersed in nature.
