Luke Jankie (MPsych)
Luke Jankie is a registered Medicare psychologist and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS).
Luke has been operating within the mental health space for 5 years, working in facilitation and informal education prior. He is experienced in working with children, adolescents and adults from a variety of different backgrounds.
Travelling to the United States in 2018, Luke spent the year working on a mood disorder research project at the University of Yale. While working with the University, Luke was also operating as a Behavior Therapist in a private therapeutic school. Prior to living overseas, Luke worked in private practice and as a Clinician for the Department of Justice. Luke has also worked with a number of not-for-profit organizations, schools and university clinics facilitating workshops on self-actualisation, mental health and social entrepreneurship.
Client Support Issues that Luke Can Assist With
Luke currently consults with clients aged 15 years and older. He has extensive experience working with youth, and a passion for working with adults experiencing a range of different life problems including and/or related to: stress, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, depression, self-esteem issues, self-harm, motivational problems, bullying, anger management, relationship problems and school problems.
Evidence-based Counselling Interventions Offered
Luke is experienced and trained to deliver a range of different evidence-based treatment therapies including: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused, Interpersonal Therapy, and Mindfulness.
Luke’s Counselling Approach
Luke believes that each and every client is fundamentally different. Everyone comes from different backgrounds and presents with a different set of needs, wants and treatment goals. As such, Luke strives to create tailor-made therapy sessions for every client, working collaboratively with the real expert (the client) to achieve relevant, attainable and long-lasting outcomes.
Luke believes that in a similar way to how people and mental health continue to grow and change, so to do the treatment techniques that are available and best suited for therapy. As such, Luke is committed to continuing his development as a practitioner, regularly attending lectures and workshops, in addition to personal and group supervision sessions.
